VACANCIES IN THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT
DR. ASHOK KUMAR MITTAL:
Will the PRIME MINISTER be pleased to state:
(a) the number of employees as of 1st January 2023 in the Central Government, grade-wise details thereof;
(b) the number of recruitments made to fill up the vacant posts during the last three years, grade-wise details thereof;
(c) the measures taken/proposed to be taken to bridge the gap between sanctioned and the actual strength of employees; and
(d) the data in relation to number of Government jobs that have been created from the year 2018, State-wise details thereof?
ANSWER: MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF PERSONNEL, PUBLIC GRIEVANCES AND PENSIONS AND MINISTER OF STATE IN THE PRIME MINISTER’S OFFICE (DR. JITENDRA SINGH)
(a) to (d): As per Annual Report of Pay Research Unit (PRU), Department of Expenditure, the number of employees as on 1st March 2022 in grade ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ in the Central Government, is 1,08,099, 2,92,117 and 26,12,934, respectively.
Filling up of vacant posts in various Ministries/ Departments is a continuous process. As part of Rozgar Mela, the vacant posts are being filled in a Mission Mode. Rozgar Mela events are being held across the country and the new appointees are being inducted into various Central Ministries/ Departments/ Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs)/ Autonomous Bodies including Health & Education Institutes, Public Sector Banks etc.
Government has been issuing instructions to all Ministries/ Departments, from time to time, for timely filling up of the unfilled posts. Rozgaar Melas being organized by Government of India are expected to act as catalyst in further employment generation. As part of Rozgaar Mela, the vacant posts are being filled in a Mission Mode.
